History

From the time of Alexander the Great, the Afghans have been known to be fierce Fighters. They have fought many wars Starting from the era of alexander, they fought against Islamic forces then Mongols, Ottomans, British, Russians and Now the Americans. Thus always defeating and revolting against their opponents this land has been named ” Graveyard of Empires”.

Located in located in the heart of south-central Asia, it is the landlocked country with no access to shores. Lying on the trade routes joining Asia with middle east, this soil has been under influence of several kingdoms and countries, but it always revolted. The Afghan soil is a treasure as it hosts up to 3 trillion Dollars of stones and Minerals. The landscape includes Mountains in the North, plateaus in the west and Deserts in the southeastern Part of the Country.

Invasions

Anglo Afghan Wars, additionally called Afghan Wars, three struggles (1839–42; 1878–80; 1919) in which Great Britain, from its base in India, tried to expand its command over adjoining Afghanistan and to go against Russian impact there. After almost 70 years the soviet union having power over the middle eastern states decided to enter Afghanistan.

Soviet intrusion of Afghanistan, attack of Afghanistan in late December 1979 by troops from the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union interceded on the side of the Afghan socialist government in its contention with against socialist Muslim guerrillas during the Afghan War (1978–92) and stayed in Afghanistan until mid-February 1989. Soon after, the soviet union was dissolved into many states most of them were Muslim states i.e. Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan etc. After them came the US a new superpower of the world.

Taliban

In September 11, planes hit the world trade center in New York and Hundreds of people Die. Just two days before, Ahmad Shah Massoud, commander of the Northern Alliance, an anti-Taliban coalition, is assassinated by al-Qaeda operatives. This opens a way for the American forces into Afghanistan. The Us led NATO operation just started after these attacks to “Restore peace and end al-Qaeda” But peace is what never came back again.

After almost 20 years of War, the cost of lives and Money is beyond counting. According to the US Department of defense the cost is more than 2.3 trillion Dollars.

American service members killed in Afghanistan through April: 2,448

U.S. contractors: 3,846.

Afghan national military and police: 66,000

Other allied service members, including from other NATO member states: 1,144.

Afghan civilians: 47,245

Taliban and other opposition fighters: 51,191

Aid workers: 444

Journalists: 72.

Despite this more than 2.2 million Afghan have left their homeland and taken refuge in neighboring countries.

Who won and who lost

It is should be noted that in the past 4 decades two super powers came to the Afghan soil. So who really won, Both the super powers got nothing out infact they spend enormous amount of money and lives. To answer tis question I’m attaching a picture which will itself say who Won.
